Music Review || 2018

Niall’s Tour

As 2018 comes to a close I thought I’d do a post of some of my favorite songs, albums and music videos from this year!! I went to two concerts both at Shoreline Amphitheater, one Logic concert, one Niall Horan concert. I cried twice before Niall even started, and once through the second song. Logic did an amazing light and video display for us at Shoreline based on his Bobby Tarantino II album. Both concerts were obviously very different, but they were both amazing affordable concert options. Niall’s tickets literally cost me no more than $20. I saw a One Direction member for the same price as the average Chipotle order, mind blown.

These go to songs will be in no particular order, just as they come up for me on my 2018 playlist. To start off we have, Torn Apart by Neriah Fisher & Shane Patterson who happened to be two years behind me in high school. Neriah is the daughter of Cheryl Burke, Dancing With the Stars host, and she’s becoming a youtube beauty/music guru. Shane played waterpolo and never had the best attitude, but what teenage boy does? Next, What I Need by Hayley Kiyoko ft. Kehlani, Hayley used to be on CSI: Cyber as a code consultant, I was really sad when the show was cancelled. In honor of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City, Lost in Japan by Shawn Mendes & Body Talks by The Struts both make my top list. Lost in Japan is SUCH a cute song about going the extra mile (literally) to see a significant other, and Body Talks is so peppy it’s hard to be sad while listening to it. Another song about having that special someone is, Boo’d Up by Ella Mai without any features, the other version isn’t my personal favorite. For a while Real Friends by Camilla Cabello was my jam just because I was really in a rut when it came to friendships. People were leading me to believe they weren’t worth my time, I was just looking for some REAL friends & with time I did!! It was hard to pick my favorite Ariana Grande song of 2018, so I chose three, Thank You, Next; God Is A Woman & Imagine. Everyone knows Fifty Shades Freed was a major favorite film for me this year, so Big Spender by Kiana Ledé made my list for this year off the soundtrack. A good self esteem booster was Apeshit by The Carters, which bumps bars of people cheering you on & how it feels. Another up and coming artist Juice WRLD wrote Lucid Dreams, a musician taken too soon. Finally song wise, Sweet but Psycho by Ava Max is an absolute jam to close the year off.

My top six albums are Icarus Falls by Zayn, Ye by Kanye West, Reputation by Taylor Swift, Astroworld by Travis Scott, Flicker by Niall Horan and Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer. Although, there weren’t too many on my list, This Is America & SICKO MODE were great music videos this year. I wish the Weeknd had released another False Alarm style video, but alas that’s probably what 2019 is for right? What were your favorite songs, albums and videos? Leave them in the comments below!!
