Living in a city both has its perks in its drawbacks obviously. Living in a city my whole life gave me the opportunity to learn the ropes of what it’s like and to adjust to life that’s a little bit slower pace than the busybody vibe of LA that I’m used to. This post is mainly for you guys to learn how to deal with city life if you guys choose to move to a big city and to navigate one if you travel to one.
Just going into the big city know that everything is going to move a little bit faster, you’re going to need to plan for things way in advance. That includes leaving for things, getting ready and just like eating and being able to get on the go really really fast. Know that the freeway is always going to be your fastest option driving wise. Even for life in San Jose for me I’ve noticed that the freeways always gonna be faster even if it is going take me an hour to get from the barn to home. Know that everything’s gonna be a little bit expensive seeing as you’re in a city where everything is really in demand based on the number of people to accommodate. Steep prices are most prevalent in things like living expenses, any toiletries or basic necessities that you would need, things like cars and travel are going to be really expensive to and from or within that place and things like transportation are either going to be your best friend or your worst nightmare.
Having grown up and been raised in a big city like Los Angeles the importance on your looks, style, status is really high so buying into designer or name brands is a big deal. Alongside that just on the West Coast we’re more health-conscious with food, exercising or any kind of fitness trend and things like that. We have a lot of Pressed Juicery’s, SoulCycle which is a cycling company and a bunch of other just like fitness kind of things to do as a hobby. From juice cleanses, to intermittent fasting, to keto diet you’ll hear it everywhere in Los Angeles. People frequent places that are purely organic, such as Whole Foods, Gelson’s market, or any farmers market that happens around the city. Los Angeles is bigger than the state of Rhode Island, I’ve drawn out a countywide map for my mom who actually works with the County, and there are so many opportunities for us to eat clean and healthy and just buy locally.
Despite the “perfection” disease that plagues most major cities, you’ll always have stunning views, good food, and an opportunity at every turn to make friends, try new things or take on new roles in your life.
