If you attended San Jose State in 2017 and lived in the Campus Village 2 building this was the view from the city side. As you can see this is prior to the bricks buildings being demolished, we lived in the middle one (Royce Hall) next to Washburn (aka WaBu, the only one left today) and Hoover Hall (which is completely gone now) which was haunted by a female student who was apparently murdered in the phone booth in the lobby, but I don’t think that’s real. Besides San Jose State is a whole city so let’s get into it.
In San Jose, CA you can see a variety of animals at Happy Hollow Zoo, if you’re a AAA member you get a discount so bring your membership card and ID!! You have 2 awesome and family oriented sports teams right in Downtown, the Earthquakes⚽️ and the Sharks🏒. There are tons of parks in San Jose all you have to do is open your map and search for “parks near me” and they’ll give you a list of nice city parks.
Besides a nice walk through the park you can go to the various malls across town. Valley Fair is rapidly expanding into a high fashion mall, Oakridge gives you all the options for family fun, Eastridge is kind of the same with more adult options as well. While I’d say the transportation isn’t the best the airport has amazing gate food options and amenities. Some of the amenities are light structures programmed by the city’s leading tech companies/representatives. Being in the center of Silicon Valley you can’t go a day without being directly affected by the tech industries work. We even have a kids Technology Museum and a normal Children’s Discovery Museum to enjoy with your family.
If you want a change of pace take a wander out to the mining district you can see what remains of the Quicksilver Mines and the cutest museum dedicated to it. Wander a little more, and you can find the San Jose mission founded to aid in trade with the Spanish, unfortunately I haven’t been to this one personally so I can’t speak to it’s amazing qualities.
Back in the city you’ll see Victorian homes left and right and if you’re here during Christmas, stop by Christmas in the Park on Market Street for the best holiday experience ever. Overall this city has a lot to offer, but living here for the passed three years I’ve almost exhausted my options of things to do. Living isn’t cheap so come prepared to work your butt off to afford rent in the area but otherwise it’s pretty good!!
