A few weeks ago, a brand reached out to me with an application for their ambassador program and I submitted it back to them right away. The My Charmed Horse team got back to me right away and added me to their #MCHLovely team!! I waited a bit to make my first purchase because I wanted to be sure I was choosing the right charm for me, and I had to wait for my paycheck too. The charm I chose was the last of its kind, and that makes it kinda special to me beyond the reasons I chose it. The MCH team was also kind enough to include an “S” charm for Sara, and a sticker which now lives on a gecko tank like a sponsored ad.
Earlier this year my Grandmother on my Mom’s side sold the last of our family bred horses, Top Spot. It was tough for me because there was literally nothing I could do to prevent it because I can’t afford board for him, but it was such a loss for our family in my opinion. My Great Grandfather spent years refining his vision of the Saddlebred breed specifically color wise. Our horses were known for their Tobiano markings, a dark head followed by consistent spots until the barrel where it’s broken by white until the croup and down. Top Spot was no exception with his stunning all black face to a nearly all white body until his rear. Montenegro’s Top Spot you will be missed, but this charm reminded me so much of you I had to get it to ride Capone in to remind me where I started.
On one of my first trips out to Arizona to visit my Grandmother, cousins, and the horses we went out to Scottsdale and got genuine Silver & Turquoise jewelry which I still cherish to this day. We learned so much about the history of it, its uses, different tones of the stone and how to care for it. While my cuff I got has more green tones in it, this charm emulates the richness of the stones my cousins picked out.
One of the final reasons I grabbed this particular charm, was its stunning Western concha shape. I’ve been riding Western my whole life, and have honestly learned so much from trail riding that I thought it was only fitting to pay homage to my lessons learned.
