Meet Capone || 2018

Capone & I Summer 2019

Back in 2018 I was still working at Webb and I spent my free time after work loving on a few different horses depending on their needs. It started with Willy Wonka aka Wonka or Wonks, then Stanley the big red puppy after Wonks got a leaser and then Caz for the rest of my time until juggling 2 horses became tough for me when Capone came into the picture. From my time working at Webb I gained a great friend, Fallon, and she gave me the greatest gift ever, the opportunity to lease a horse for the first time.

Capone at the time was an 8 year old (making him a solid 11 year old now) fresh out of a lesson program and looking to be in a one horse family. He was a bit gnarly looking when he first arrived, its really hard to deny the mammoth in him from back then. But, he cleaned up well after a body clip and a change in lifestyle. We started him on Horse Guard FLIX and his tail has since filled out and grown an absurd amount and looks incredible. Fallon is religious with Cowboy Magic detangler and not brushing his tail now, but tail bags helped us stop touching and worrying about his tail all the time. I have about 5 from all of our tail bag days.

My first ride on him was on a Wednesday with Fallon when she leased an OTTB named Jules. Jules spooked twice and Capone followed in suit nearly dumping me on the road. I spent a few seconds of my life horizontal in my saddle on him before regaining balance. I joked we could try mounted pony games, but maybe polo could be an option too?

We were at Webb for about 8 months or so before moving to a private barn to be closer to friends with a better barn environment. I had just come back from Japan when we moved him and I was just so excited to see him after my trip. The post about the first ride at the new place is here, enjoy. Since moving and even a few time before Capone has been featured by Sport Horse Essentials, Horse Guard, Horseware, Purvida, Tory Leather and more!!

He started out absolutely afraid of water, he couldn’t ride around with speakers, flags were impossible and cows seemed like crazy talk. Over time he overcame all of them and is the best drill pony, lesson super pony and wonder Pony in general. He has been traveling all over the Bay to go on trail rides, even through rivers, creeks and ponds. He has ran in some gymkhanas and done fairly well. However, the real show is his drill work, he truly has come so far from the Webb Drill team to the Gunsmoke & Glitter team that places at their shows and values friendship above all else. What an inspiring group of girls, proud to call them my friends.

I can’t wait to see what else he gets up to, he has so much room for growth and I know he’ll do it with a good attitude. His tag everywhere is #G2BCapone in case you need to see his face as much as I do.
