Back in elementary school we would pass around cute little “to & from valentines” to celebrate Valentine’s Day and I would day dream that the cute boy in my class would give me the best card he had. He never did of course, but it was a great waste of time as a six year old. Jump through light speed into my teens and Valentine’s Day was much different than six year old me could’ve ever expected for a bunch of reasons. I was adopted just after I turned 10, and my family liked to celebrate the effort we put into each other that year on Valentine’s Day. It wasn’t just about being boy crazy, it became a day to appreciate the love in our lives as a family and to share thanks for that. If we flash forward one more time to my 20’s, Valentine’s Day did kind of take a back seat family wise because I’ve been in a relationship for all of my 20’s so far. My parents still send me a card every year now that I live on my own, but my day is usually just focused on him for the most part. We do a gift exchange usually, and I thought why not make it easier on some of us that struggle with the gift giving portion of this holiday. Today’s post is everything pink, love related, red, and there are items that will test and strengthen the bond you share with your significant other.
Because I just can’t help it I have to include horse items, totally accepting judgement on this one. I think a proposal with a nice horse is acceptable so receiving equine items for Valentine’s Day is basically a love language for me. Any of the rose gold items from my Waldhausen post would fit the pink/ rose gold theme of today’s post. The next horse item I had to include was this adorable saddle pad from Mare Goods. It’s not exactly all pink or lovey per say, but it makes me feel happy. The “Truman” print saddle pad is tagged at $50 and unfortunately doesn’t include shipping.
To kick off the ‘normal’ gifts, I’ve picked a couple books of poetry and writings I’ve enjoyed on Instagram here and there. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy the hardcover, is priced at about $15 at Target. This actually really surprised me since I originally found it on Amazon for like $25 and you would have to pay for shipping unless you qualified for free shipping or you have Amazon Prime. I would recommend adding that, Dirty Pretty Things and Bitter Sweet Love by Michael Faudet to your cart to climb closer to that free shipping mark. Both fall at about $15, pushing your cart to about $45 or so. Reading these together seems like a very intimate and fun time to share together.
I already have a wallet I’m pretty happy with, but I saw this on Amazon and decided for a gift it made the list. It’s a cute monogrammed card clip, it’s running for $34 on Amazon although it is Kate Spade. Once I saw the card clip I went down a Kate Spade rabbit hole. I have a bunch of their stuff already like my favorite boudoir lamp, but I always want more. I found a couple bangles and cuffs that I liked, but I ultimately decided this enamel hinged bangle in Coral. I like that the logo is on the inside of the band, I know it will be safe from wear and tear that way.
It’s absolutely not a secret that I love Typo. My 2021 baby blue bullet journal is from there, my 2019 tobacco suede planner was bought at their Valley Fair location and I could buy one of everything. They are currently running a sale on their A5 Buffalo Journals. They usually run for $15, but this cute ‘heather suede” dusty rose leather journal is only, $7.50. To go in said journal, I found this sticker that gives off major “bad b*tch” vibes. It’s only $3 so it’s basically a gimme, plus you’re supporting a small business with your purchase.
If you’re in the candle mood and want to make a bundle of some sort I highly recommend grabbing these super cute “Spark Romance” matches. They’re only going to set you back about $13. I personally love the Bath & Body Works Champagne Toast Candle and one version of said candle is very chic and fits almost anywhere in the home. The candle is a bit pricey at $25 for the three wick version, but it lasts a while and smells delightful. Cozy up with the candles lit with love and this blanket from PINK as a FREE GWP during some times during the year or buy it now for $65. The PINK Violet Earth Love color is most fitting, but they have one other color too.
Hopefully (IF shes a flower kind of gal) there is a flower/bouquet on the way. If not, I would highly recommend a red Le Mini from Venus et Fleur. They are $45 for a single rose, but they literally last a year and beyond in some cases. How crazy?! Normally, I would just be happy with something like this from the local grocery store for $17, and this one is lovely. If they aren’t a flower person, grab them a grafted cactus with a red or hot pink top from Home Depot for $15. I have 2 personally, and they are so much fun. My hot pink on is Karma, I tend to prick myself on her often.
Another must have item for the day or at least for drinks and dinner is this fantastic brew glitter. Rose Gold is obviously the must have choice, and its only $10 and might last a lifetime if rationed properly. (Only if food safe, I’m mostly joking – don’t try it please.)
I hope this helps you think of some things to get your loved one on a special day. Valentine’s Day doesn’t always needs to be about romantic love, it could just be a very pink/red day full of other kinds of love and good company. XO
