Back in 2020, we covered my bridle journey in terms of what I ordered, what I need to finish it off and my goals with it. I imagined I would have this bridle for a lifetime if it holds up with proper care and treatment. However, when my headstall arrived it was actually covered in mold, tarnished spots, and rubs from the dark oil. Seeing as the hardware isn’t real silver there is no excuse for tarnishing. I would’ve understood if in the weather change from one side of the country to the other the silver would change and need some maintenance from shipping, but it’s the end of summer so moisture isn’t a factor. I guess I got what I paid for with a $22 headstall. The return policy for HorseLoverz is insane and unhelpful at best, so I just had to eat the bad purchase seeing as they never got back to me about receiving a bad product. I will not be ordering from them again.
I took a full 24 hours to mope and be sad that my hopes and dreams for this bridle were crushed. I was really hoping the company would get back to me seeing as I was completely dissatisfied with my purchase, but they basically left me on read like a boy on Tinder. Very unprofessional.

Forgive my dirty can, but I have this amazing Rustoleum rose gold metallic spray paint for another DIY I have been working on. I thought about the headstall and I wrapped the dark leather up in tape to protect it and then I laid out a card stock poster board on the balcony and I went to town on the gross silver hardware.
This is the state of the headstall and hardware when I received it. The dark spots, rubs and grossness is very apparent.
And then after I was done with it and my spray paint this is how it looks now. I’ve wanted my own rose gold hardware headstall for a very long time as stated in many other posts here on Grey2Bay, and now I made my dream come true!! I paired this western bridle with the charm I got for my western headstall from My Charmed Horse, the turquoise western concho charm. If you want your own it’s up on their website here, use code “SARA10” to get a 10% discount at checkout!!
This is not the most beautiful, or well done change for the hardware, but it makes me far happier than the gross bridle I paid for. I will let you guys know how the paint holds up to Capone, he can be rough on his stuff.
