There was one project in high school that I was especially proud of, and my grade absolutely reflected the effort I put into it. My French 5 course (specifically made for me and one other senior) gave us the easiest final I’d ever seen in my 13 years of school, make a magazine on a topic of your choosing and include 2-3 ‘articles’ completely in French. I made a Grey2Bay version of Noelle Floyd‘s magazine and turned it in with articles about random horse things. It was the one project I ever had where I was able to incorporate my hobbies into, and may have opened a career door for me in the process.
Aside from Noelle Floyd, there wasn’t another magazine I was drooling over. I grew up looking through Horse Illustrated magazines from my friends and every catalog I could get my hands on. Over the years I have become fairly familiar with Chronicle of the Horse, but again haven’t caught on as a fan. I was thinking at this point that I would have to unearth my French 5 Final project and bring it to life for the masses when someone sort of beat me to it.

Calling All Horse Girls Vol 1: ‘Barn Time’ has been a fantastic addition to my magazine collection. I have almost every Vogue magazine from March 2019-Feburary 2021, a handful of collectable OK’s, People and random food magazines. I also keep a handful of G2B related National Geographic’s for blog photos, and it sits at the front of all of them. It has the perfect spreads, games/trivia, cut outs, postcards and such that your childhood TigerBeat would be jealous. It makes the kid in me happy as well as giving me great happiness as an adult too. I would buy a second copy just to have on my coffee table because I can’t leave my only copy out in case there was ever a spill.

I will be including a few spreads from the magazine throughout this post, but you’ll definitely need to grab your own copy to see what I’m talking about. Priced at ~$35 with shipping, this little paperback book of wonder is absolutely worth every penny. I had my precious copy sent to my Grandparent’s house since I ordered it just around the holiday’s. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t able to share Christmas with them until a full month after the day itself so I had to wait to pick it up.
I cannot wait until Volume 2 drops, I am forever a fan.
