Wander Beauty || 2022

Around the time I was moving out for college in 2016, I liked to think I had a decent handle on what I liked and didn’t like makeup wise. After my 6 years at Brentwood I was pretty on top of my go to looks for benefits, galas, and other formal events. This also fed over into my day to day looks, and semi formal events. As time continued on, I realized I had little to no need for makeup. I was in college taking classes, later I was working at a huge eventing barn with horses who really don’t care if I’m wearing the latest Dior eyeliner and then I started scooping poke and running a store and I got back into it slightly.

I was big into YouTube at that point and makeup channels honestly took up most of my time TV wise. I say TV wise because my Roku and TV play YouTube, I normally wouldn’t consider YouTube television. That being said the majority of my time was occupied by beauty gurus. I bought the James Charles palette, the Conspiracy palette from Jeffree Star & Shane Dawson, I reinvested in Colourpop, I learned about Tati Beauty and more. I followed and subscribed to the drama more than the style of makeup they did, but some of the products sold me 100%.

I liked to think I started gathering knowledge about what was okay and a big no no skin wise, and I relearned how to care and treat my own skin. However, I was still able to hold onto all the things and brands I grew up with. With that in mind though things like traveling are made difficult by full size products.

I found out through my love of Victoria’s Secret, specifically a former Angel, Lindsay Ellingson. She used to do the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Hair & Makeup tutorial videos, and it obviously moved on to her own brand.

Wander Beauty is co-owned by Lindsay and it’s primary focus is being travel friendly as the name suggests!! Back when I moved I had just been bought an “On the Glow” stick in “Coral Rose”. It worked as a highlighter, eyeshadow, blush and lip color. It was technically a two ended product with at least 4 uses. I still love that product to this day. It’s lovely in the summer and adds a dewiness to a glowy look that I haven’t been able to replicate with other products. It’s priced at $42, but again I highly recommend it for a perfected West Coast sun kissed look.

Skip forward to recently. I decided I needed and wanted to bring back my “don’t leave the house without a face” rule, just to reinforce my getting ready process. It also makes me look more professional and put together, but I doubt Sunday & the herd at work really care. That being said, I reinvested imagine Wander Beauty knowing I would be traveling often soon.

I picked up one of their Unlashed Volume & Curl mascaras in Tarmac, and a High Line Liquid Eyeliner. The mascara is priced at $26, and the liner is $22 both available from their website, or potentially Sephora. For another $26 I added on one of their Double Date Eyeshadows in “ILYSM & First Kiss”.

I have been a major fan of the mascara. It is hands down one of the best ones I have ever used, and it’s the friendliest tube to work with. I can squeeze extra product that’s usually unreachable in a standard tube back up into the spooly with the design of this one. The color is very consistent and flattering. The formula is buildable and adjustable. And the shape of the applicator is so helpful with the curve of my eyes and reaching those hard to get spots eyelash wise. I will forever have this in my makeup bag and we’ll be Wander-ing forever. I do have to try another of their formulas, but I’m set (maybe even jet set?) on this one.

The High Line eyeliner was very nice for the first few applications and rapidly ran out!! I was shocked as I had just received it and only used it a small handful of times before it went. However, in its short life I decided I was a fan just like the glow stick and the mascara, but I’d rather buy the Elf $3 eyeliner that lasted me just as long. I would rather save money given the price difference, but I was very happy to give it a try for you guys. Let me know too if you have a different experience than I did.

The eyeshadow works like butter, it’s the easiest to apply on the go and stays on and doesn’t budge too much. For $26 you get a lot of product to work with, but it’s not overwhelming, instead it’s buildable. It’s great for everyday or for special occasions. I wouldn’t recommend adding powder formulas to the look as it might not apply in a friendly manner, but you’re only given 2 shades to work with as a fair warning. Again this is great for being on the go, but it narrows the look down and simplifies it.

Overall, as I travel to Spokane, Oregon, Prague and wherever else I can persuade my flight attendant other half to go, I will be bringing my Wander Beauty with me.
