Back when I first started working at my current barn I had the opportunity to school one of the horses in training named Sunday. She gave me quite a ride, but was still manageable for me to handle. Given that it was still my first week and I didnāt want to have any issues and come off so I passed the rest of her ride off to a volunteer and called it a day. Little did I know what was to come.

Sheās sunken into a hole under the mat so she looks very downhill here, but sheās really quite lovely looking. A fun fact for me is sheās related to another of our horses named Ollie (I will add a photo of him below so you can see the resemblance). Sheās apparently an Appendix, so sheās half Quarter horse and half Thoroughbred. She is slightly funky shaped in terms of saddle fit around the shoulders so I can kinda see it, but I canāt wait to fact check it with my boss. Pictured below as I promised is Ollie.

I spent a lot of time at a different location than Sunday, but I ultimately ended up back with her. At the Woodside location we have a ride board and a use board for the lesson program, and I have temporarily been given Sunday to ride and school. Itās been really nice to have a horse I can start to work with and bond with again. Iāve been taking extra care of her and grooming her just so she gets used to me and understands Iām here to hang out and be with her, itās not only to work her and learn. Sheās a very sweet mare, but she does have her spicy moments as a red mare does. We havenāt had a turning point in our working relationship just yet, but I hope itās as great as the one I had with Cheyenne back in the day. Thereās nothing quite like a good mare.
I hope you guys stick around to see what Sunny and I do together both here on the blog and on our other socials. Until then save #G2BSunday and enjoy her cute face.
