What a better way to close off the month than to talk about a wonderful time I had at the very beginning of this month at the turn of the new year. It’s especially fun to talk about it seeing as this goes up after my New Years companions birthday!! While we all take a second to internally wish him a happy happy birthday, I hope you also take a deep breath and settle in for a good read.

I got in to the Westin hotel fairly late in the evening as it was already pitch black outside, but I can thank San Francisco airport (SFO) traffic for that. B had already checked in for us, and made the room ours by the time I got up there. We had all the things we needed except for ice and dinner. Once we secured our ice for our New Years champagne, we were quickly on our way to In n Out to secure a fast and fantastic dinner to ring in the next year. We made good time to the In n Out a few exits before SFO, and found out they would be open until 1AM…meaning the workers would be there through the ball drop west coast time. Luckily for our server in the drive thru, they were off at 11PM just in time to go to bed because they skipped NYE plans. At the time I felt bad for them, but I totally understood too. We got our goods and made our way back to the hotel in the blink of an eye. B even managed to find a parking spot closer to his van, so that was pretty perfect. We gathered the various things we needed out of my car Bloo and back upstairs we went.
By then my Smirnoff Ices were cold, our celebratory champagne was chilling consistently and the New York replay of the ball drop was on the TV. B went and grabbed a couple Coors Lights from downstairs at the bar, and dinner was off to a great start.

A warm freshly cooked Double Double from In n Out is such a simple pleasure, but it will vividly be remembered from this night. Something about it was just perfect for the experience, but maybe that’s because I’m kinda biased. I paired my burger with a vanilla shake which lasted about as long as our car ride to the Westin if I’m being quite honest.
We enjoyed each other’s company as the replay walked us through the time left until the new year officially hit and BAM here we are welcome to 2022!!
We popped our champagne from the airlines, so it was a perfect size since I’m not a huge champagne/wine/beer person as it is. However, we were both pleasantly surprised it was as good as it is. I want that again going into 2023 please!!

In the end we checked out January 1 and went back to regular life. B went off globetrotting for the airlines, and I went home to do laundry before heading back to work at the barn. Lucky for us we’ll get to do that sort of thing again all year long. Keep watching my posts and you’ll see why soon enough!!
