Spokane || 2022

I just touched down at SJC in downtown San Jose, but I had the most magical time in Spokane, WA and I wanted to share it with you all.

Brannon and I have been loosely talking about me visiting Washington since we started talking and dating in August, but we were smart and waited until the time was right to do so. Being from California, I wasn’t entirely sure about going up that far north in the winter time, but it ended up being a wonderful time. The main reason for our trip was obviously so I could meet his parents and lovely dog Bigs, but it was also to celebrate B’s 32nd birthday!!

We enjoyed a nice family meal and a very delicious three layer homemade raspberry & Boston cream filled box cake with normal vanilla frosting and a mocha top. Brannon’s mom has been making this cake for him for years and while it’s taken many shapes and variations over the years, I am happy to have been a part of this years birthday cake experience.

We celebrated with his friends too and threw axes and ninja stars, affectionately called shuriken. Beforehand, we grabbed coffees at Bean Me Up and zoomed on over to Jumping Jackalope Axe Throwing in downtown Spokane in B’s truck. We had at least an hour long session with 5 people, and learned all the techniques of how to throw and remove the axes and stars from the target. We had a variety of different shapes, weights and sizes of throwing axes and about 5 different ninja stars. One of which was bat wings from Batman, it was fun.

We also spent time ice skating one day with friends, and sledding at mach speeds down a run another. Spokane has a really fun ice ribbon in downtown sponsored by Numerica. The ribbon has gradual slopes up and down so you can enjoy the feel of real terrain while skating in the city. It also has the usual circle for dance parties and beginners with something to hold onto on the ice for balance. Behind the rink is a lovely view of the Spokane river, the Spokane Pavilion and the Great Northern Clocktower. Not going to lie, it was kinda fun to have colored lights over the rink and back behind us at the pavilion.

In our free time Brannon and I put together an entire box of Legos to create a replica of slave one from Star Wars. It’s about 600 pieces and honestly gives any puzzle a run for it’s money. As someone with ADHD most puzzles are quite hard for me to do in one sitting or even over time, but this Lego set proved to be a puzzle too. There was so many steps and little parts to place perfectly, but man was it fun. I can’t wait to go farther down the Lego rabbit hole with B.

I will be sure to post more from my Washington trip so you can see specific bits and pieces in depth, but until then enjoy this post.
