Pine Planter || 2022

In my usual walks around TJ Maxx & Home Goods, I came across a pair of planters with feet that made my heart smile.

I took a picture and sent it over to Kyla on Snapchat. There were two sizes and I would’ve died to get both right then and there, but I had a trip looming and choices had to be made.

This was taken that day, it’s the very same photo I sent Kyla actually. Despite frothing at the mouth for this planter I walked out with the things I needed and left the planters on the shelf.

I went off to Spokane to visit B and his family & friends. I kept the vase in the back of my mind though. How could I not. I was in the heart of the trees in Washington and it was a constant reminder.

I waited for a while after I got home before grabbing it, but I did ultimately obtain the small version for my indoor plants.

I have since struggled with the perfect pairing for the planter. I thought an asparagus fern would be the perfect fit since it would look like a little pine tree which would be perfect for the pot. If I could fit a tiny pine in it I would’ve. Unfortunately, it last drainage, and the tree would outgrow it so I said no. The fern however, became such a hyper fixation. I found them all over Etsy, I found them locally wherever I could, but I never committed to buying it. I found out it wasn’t cat friendly and I didn’t think with Turbo around it would be a good idea to leave it unattended. I will be doing a care sheet for it so be ready to hear more. I do hope to have one, one day in a separate area from Turbo’s reach.

This is her. This is she. She’s perfect.

I have since thought and pondered over the subject and decided on a different plant completely.

I have decide the perfect pair for the vase is a ficus lyrata or a Fiddle Leaf Fig. A full size one like the beauties I have found on Pinterest start around $100, which is a bit much for me seeing as it’s a plant and I could very well kill it. Besides it’s too big for my space right now without Turbo climbing it, and it ruining the carpet in my room with all the water it’ll need.

That being said I recently discovered $45 full size ones at Home Depot, which gives me hope for the future of the accessibility of this special plant. That being said I nearly yelped when I saw the babies are only $10!! I have yet to commit to one since I have two more plants I just got at home to care for right now, and I have a large long move looming, but they will be there when I am ready.

Fiddle Leaf Fig, I’m coming for you!!
