Back in Sept we discussed the monstera deliciosa. I had just acquired two healthy happy plants and I have you guys the run down on their care. If you have missed it in any way shape or form, that post is here.
However, today we’re talking about a sister plant, one much more coveted, the Monstera Albo Borsigiana.

It is the “albino” or white variegated leaf version of the common monstera deliciosa. Their care is much the same, but I want to highlight for y’all again. The more I break it down for y’all, the more I’ll remember the best care for my dream plants.
Unlike the common deliciosa, the leaves on this sister plant have white splotches through them. They are the paints of the plant world if you will. These spots look unique and sophisticated, but lack chlorophyll to power the plant. While these leaves look stunning they unfortunately don’t provide nutrients for the plant.
The white doesn’t allow for proper absorption of sunlight, and often leads to sunburn. These plants thrive in constant indirect light skin their leaves can shift and spot and needed to support its system. Like the deliciosa these guys like their soil arid, and they quite enjoy drying out a bit before the next watering. I have seen a whole bunch of mixes for perfect soul for these guys but I’m still mastering the portions myself. Google and other blog plant friends recommend, 1/3 potting soil, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 orchid bark or reptile bark.
They thrive in tropical environments and 20%-65% humidity in houses seems to be a stable humidity range for these guys. I’ve seen lots of recommendations for plant humidifiers to maintain their environment. For that, I use my small desk humidifier and it seems to do the trick so far.
I won’t be buying a huge plant of this or even a clipping for a while. I want to make sure my normal ones survive with a regular work schedule and my move. Once B and I are settled, a ficus lyrata, and at least a small monstera albo borsigiana, are coming home with us.
I can’t wait to show you guys what I have planned for our future living space, Turbos soon to be new way of life, and of course the plants.
