It’s Official || 2022

When Brannon and I started dating he was all in on being a flight attendant. He’s been working for a major airline for the last few years, working his way up the seniority ladder at a pace a tortoise could beat. Being that he’s based in San Francisco (SFO), it’s been a task to say the least to find a foothold in any line.

We thought he might have a chance to secure a line with a job share with a more senior line based flight attendant, but COVID threw a wrench in that plan and they weren’t offering that anymore. So he applied to his airlines commercial pilot program to kick start a new aviation career.

We had a lot of hope for them seeing as the pilot shortage is so severe they’re dropping requirements to be hired left and right. However, after an extensive application process they ultimately denied him and set him back to square one.

We knew about ATP, but given my old aviation experience and my Dads perspective we both said ATP was going to be quite a commitment with real ramifications of it wasn’t taken seriously. That wasn’t me expressing any doubt in B’s abilities, but I did want him to really take some time to consider if this pilot avenue was something he was really serious about or not. Months after that initial rejection he’s decided we’re all in, this is what he wants, and we have gone full throttle.

In November by the time you read this, I will begin my trek down the Phoenix Arizona for the next seven to twelve months while Brannon goes through flight school. Turbo, my plants, an assortment of necessities and my car, Bloo will all be moving to Apache Junction for our temporary reassignment.

I have had some experience in Arizona seeing as Grandma and Papa Jacobs used to live literally in Apache Junction, and Aunt Lori, Aunt Helen and the horses are in Mesa/Gilbert. That being said it’s going to be quite an adjustment for everyone.

I wanted to let you guys all know that this was the case so you weren’t shocked when suddenly I was like “welcome to ‘zona” on social media.

I’m excited, nervous and looking forward to what this change brings. I’m so proud of B for chasing his dreams and I can’t wait to live with him after a year and some change.
