Midnights || 2022

I have been a Taylor Swift fan since I was in 3rd grade. The first Taylor Swift album I got was her self named album and it was young Taylor singing country love songs. I was fortunate enough to grab that album with my Mom while she picked out Kellie Picklers album at the time.

As years went on family members got me Red, Speak Now and a disc to Fearless that was actually karaoke, but you get the gist. It was a solid gift to get me because there was a 100% chance I would enjoy the CD.

As time has gone on I have been a quiet fan, but steady through my love for her new albums. 1989, Folklore & Evermore, Reputation etc have all been constants in my playlists.

Like all artists Taylor has created music as her life changes, and this new album is no different. She has been remaking old music that’s currently owned by people not in her corner as a way to gain back ownership of her own music. As of today (10/7/22) she can legally re-record Reputation, and I can’t wait for it to come out.

Oct 21 at midnight Taylor Swift dropped “Midnights”. I was able to snag a photo of the drop as it happened and I can’t tell you how satisfying it was. I didn’t listen to it until closer to my road trip to Phoenix, but it’s one of my favorite things since the move. I knew she had some tricks up her sleeve for the album, as that’s the Taylor way…but it was better than I could’ve imagined.

Jade, Lavender, Blood Moon, & Mahogany

There are at least four versions of her vinyl album, a CD, the Spotify version and upcoming merch to preface ticket sales for the Era’s Tour. I have always wanted vinyl’s, but I never had an opportunity or a true need for them until now. When Taylor put out the four versions, there was more to it than we thought.

When you put them all together face up, you’ll see that Lavender is clearly meant to be the “base” vinyl for the basic collector, but the other three mean more when you have the whole set.

I told B I wanted to get all four when I figured out what the significance of the whole set was, and I went on a half hunt for them at every Target we went to. I struck out from the Bay until Apache Junction. And I shouldn’t say I, because it was all B.

Our first day in PHX, B had to go out to buy some apartment essentials and he came back with all four secretly. He had found them. I ignored my heart bursting like a star, and I quickly put them together so he could see.

They make a clock.

Midnights, in all her glory

So “it’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me”, I had to have all of them so I can one day purchase Taylor’s wall mounting kit. It’s $49, and each vinyl holder spells out “meet me at midnight”, with rose gold clock works and hands.

B has a vinyl player back home and I can’t wait to break it in with Taylor one day. To tide me over until then we’re hoping to secure tickets to her March show where Paramore gets to open for her in Arizona.
