In 2019 watching creators like Shane Dawson, James Charles and Jeffree Star was totally acceptable. Talking about them in day to day conversations, buying their merch, and watching their videos like I would my favorite shows was just how life was then. I won’t go too much into it just because there’s a blog plan for my Jeffree Star content, but I will say there were posts I queued back then that never made it to the light of day due to some unforeseen issues that came up in the YouTube community.
After the 2019 launch of a bunch of very lucrative makeup collaborations, seemingly all of the beauty community on YouTube fell apart. Faces like Tati Westbrook went after bestie at the time James Charles, and Jeffree jumped on the bandwagon; all the while Shane Dawson was being cancelled for things in the past, mostly comments out of context and at times questionable remarks made on his channel. Just leading up to this Laura Lee, Manny MUA and more were cancelled for their behavior in certain situations that were brought to their attention. And as of this week, faces like Nikita Dragun, are being detained for assaulting law enforcement.
As you can tell, this financially stable community is actually completely unstable at heart.
While I mean no hard feelings by saying that as someone who has and will forever struggle with mental illness, but I would’ve expected more from “professionals”. That being said, lets talk about today’s main post focus, Jeffree Star Cosmetics otherwise known as JSC.

Back in at least, October of 2018, I had my first Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub on hand in my beauty box. Today that box is very overfilled with enough makeup for one person, for a lifetime. The first one I bought was the Blue Raspberry Sucker. Priced at either $18 or the standard $12, this 1.6 oz packs a punch as always. I have since followed up and bought, like 7 more. To this day I am the proud owner of, the original Blue Raspberry Sucker, Grape Soda, Lemon Sucker, Blue Freeze, Hot Cocoa Peppermint, Spearmint, and Strawberry Gum.
I bought a few of Jeffree’s accessories, and a Velour Liquid Lipstick in “Hi, How Are Ya?“, on one of my last purchases. Aside from that I was one of the many users that broke the internet the day of the Conspiracy palette and its collection launched. I snagged two pieces of a huge collection that barely exists today.
Since then, I have taken some time off from YouTube, makeup and the community as a whole. However, my aim this year is to go ahead and change that. While I know Jeffree made huge mistakes and ultimately helped his own online demise in some ways, he is very much a creator I still enjoy to this day. Most if not every YouTube beauty creator has had some sort of scandal come out about them, and its refreshing to see that they can pick up and move life along just like the rest of us are forced to too.
Since the huge scandals, Jeffree Star has created, bought and helped maintain Star Yak Ranch in Wyoming, and I am so excited to see what he does with this avenue of life. They currently are short on inventory, but the meat selection from his yaks looks delicious, his explanations across all platforms on the benefits of his yak meat and the yaks in general has been absolutely informative and enjoyable.

In the past I hvae touched on his beauty sponges with Morphe, reviewed a lip scrub and planned my future purchase. It’s been a wild ride, and I can’t wait to break down more of a brand I enjoy with you all. I know others would be appalled to see me supporting someone associated with such negative things, but I do believe in the products and I do believe people can find ways to redeem themselves.
