JSC Velour Lip Scrub || 2023

For today’s post were going back in time to 2019. I need you guys to fully picture the times okay. Unfortunately, Donald Trump is president, Brexit is on the table, the Amazon and Notre Dame have burned uncontrolled for too long, we impeach Donald Trump, and Japan’s emperor abdicates the throne. On the internet, everyone made their way to Area 51 to raid it in their best alien or rave get ups, Grumpy Cat otherwise known as Tardar Sauce passed away, Old Town Road is on repeat, and of course Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star have temporarily broken the internet.

If you hadn’t caught up on the various Jeffree Star & Shane Dawson series I highly recommend you make time to watch each episode on YouTube, as a lot of pertinent information is packed into each upload. They can all be readily found on Shane’s YouTube, and other supplemental videos can be found on Jeffree’s page as well. If you’re caught up, you also know talking about Jeffree Star videos is very bittersweet as he has decided to step down from the beauty community and YouTube creator circles. I have been seeing a lot of vlogs from his spare time in Wyoming, at Yak Star Ranch, but no more set posed videos apparently.

I had a huge bug bite in 2019, and by that I mean I was in love with all things Shane and Jeffree. This resulted in one of my various collections across my living space, lip scrubs. As of 2023, I own 7 jars of wonder, haha. I have the Spearmint, Blue Raspberry Sucker, Hot Chocolate Peppermint, Lemon Sucker, Grape Soda, Blue Freeze and Strawberry Gum.

Pictured above is part of my collection in 2019. I was able to dig through old photo albums on my phone to bring you my collection in time with when they were acquired. I was living in a small, but manageable 2 bedroom apartment split between 4 people total and a cat. You can see my Grey2Bay initial background here, its the black and white portrait of Manhattan looking out towards lady Liberty.

That being said, these lovely Velour Lip Scrubs by Jeffree Star Cosmetics are $12 a pop, and they last forever. I won’t use another style or brand of lip scrubs when I am such a die hard fan of this product. They are great for lip stick prep, after a good toothbrushing, in general they taste amazing and the leftover sugar is completely edible. While I know there is controversy surrounding the brand as a whole given some questionable past actions, I am still a firm believer in these products. I also believe its hard to find one brand in any industry that isn’t a problem in some way shape or form, that being said I pick and choose my battles.

I hope you all enjoyed another round of reviews on Jeffree Star Cosmetics, there will always be more, but until the next one, we’ll see ya!!
