In the 2018 Fall-Winter season, otherwise known as FW 2018, PS of Sweden put out a new collection. This is totally expected from the brand, but they released a “unicorn” I have yet to get my hands on. I have touched on “unicorns” on the main blog, but they are pads one deems a “must have”, or rare pad. What I might call a unicorn might slightly vary from the next collector, however there are times when they cross over. This set is one of them, I lie to think.
To compliment the warm tones, the natural hues and the name vibes they went with, PS of Sweden released Lava for Christmas. The quote on the spine says, “I can – I will”, which is simple, but fun.

The collection was about the same size as the average capsule, with about seven pieces in it. I am the ultimate matchy matchy girl so I would love to collect all pieces of the collection as time goes on, but to start I need a pad and bonnet. I have always bought full size jump pads, and full size ear bonnets. My collection runs on the basics. However, I recently learned the art of polo wraps, so a set of four of those uncut, and a full size dressage pad are in order. Because I clearly have lofty dreams like owning this full set, I would imagine if I showed, I would need the matching browband in a size 3. The size 3 browband fits heads as big as a 17hh, and a small 14.2 pony.
The brand did release a matching pair of Lava breeches for the rider, and I imagine they did some sort of shirt, top or outerwear to match, but I cannot find it on Google or in any of the PSOS groups. I would assume the set including two pads, four polos, a browband and a bonnet would cost me around $500 and that’s without shipping.
I think this set is worth that, and I would swoop that collection up in a heartbeat if I had the opportunity. I have included a photo of the pad so you guys can see how pretty it is. Its base is a red brown brick color right out of Hawaii’s lava flows after it dried out a bit. Its trim is navy blue to show off the color of the deep sea around the Hawaiian volcanos, and the quote and spine embroidery are done in white per usual. The PS of Sweden badge might be in the wrong spot depending on the pad, and the sizing might run big depending on how much of a true “horse” size animal you are working with. A full size pad on a smaller horse probably won’t work unfortunately.
I hope you G2Babes really liked today’s installation of what does Sara want now. It’s what keeps the blog running especially since I usually end up buying my fixations down the line anyways. So, it’s not a look at “what I want” post so much as a “look what I will be adding to the G2B Tack Box”. I realize what an immense privilege it is to be able to say that. Younger Sara would be amazed to see where I’ve gotten in the horse world, from owning saddle pads to teaching showing students with confidence. And just like that, you’ll have to wait for the next post here at Grey2Bay.
