If you guys are reading this it’s October!! Happy Spooky Month!!
Halloween happens every October 31st. It marks the day where all ghosts, ghouls, souls and spirits gather after the harvesting season. While many places have culutral claims about the holiday, it is a massive collection of concepts today.
As a country theres fine line between dressing up in scary costumes, fun costumes and those that are relevant to the day and or time you’re living in. Anytime you step out on Halloween you’re sure to see a fair amount of Barbie’s or bloody Scream characters. That being said, why dress up? Well I was always told that the veil that keeps the afterlife at bay during the year seemingly becomes thinner on this night. This means any strong spirits, or ancestors passed might make a visit back to the Earth they once came from. It’s said that dressing in costume confuses these lost spirits and disguises us mortal souls from the veil souls.
Globally, children, couples, friends and family gather together for a month of tricks or treats, and fun as a community. Some decorate their houses, or build haunted houses for trick or treaters to walk through, some lay out candy or Jack o Lantern contests. I know some people like me stay in during the month for movies, and then when the day of Halloween arrives they break out in hopes the terrifying skits from their screens walk the streets.
Lucky for you I have built a well crafted list of all things Halloween for you to enjoy this month. But, be ready, it might scare you right out of your boots.
