Hi everyone!! Today’s post is a repost!!
It’s been a while since we visited one of my favorite grooming companies. I figured it was time to revamp, redo and rekindle the blog after a long ice age. Now that the thaw has commenced, here we are.
Today’s post is all about one of my favorite grooming products, Sport Horse Essentials Hoof Oil. Back when I wrote the original version of this post back in 2019, this oil came quite literally in a tin. Today, this oil comes to you in a clean plastic tin. It sports the SHE logo, pun intended, and is so easy to clean. I currently store mine in my grooming tote, in a large freezer ziplock bag to protect the rest of my items.

This hoof oil is good as a daily hoof wall conditioner, a sole thrush treatment and preventative, and it smells good!! I haven’t been using this all too much on Cayenne, just because his perfect hooves don’t need it. Our farrier suggested other methods to help make trimming easier, so I only use this for the “twinkle toe” effect after baths, clinics and big rides, or if they look particularly dry.
Back in the day, I said, “It’s priced at $30 for a 32oz tin, or $19 for the 16oz.” Unfortunately, that is not the case in 2024/25. This oil is priced at, $44 for 16oz, and $65 for 32oz, and $236 for a gallon. There is an option to get a discounted rate on autoship for the 16oz size, but I don’t think I could go through that much without being at a lesson program. If we’re talking the SHE Waterless Shampoo & Stain Remover, I could go through a bottle a week.
Overall, this is still my go to hoof oil five years later, I truly haven’t used another brand since I discovered Sport Horse Essentials. I am still hands down a SHEFAN & part of the SHEFAM. Stay tuned for a post on truly my favorite item coming next!!
