I remember talking to my friend Stephanie (@bloodline.to.none on Instagram) about the Dark Sky collection that Equestrian Stockholm had put out at the time. We talked about it’s color discrepancy from the rendered photos to the real product, but ultimately agreed it was still a great color for a collection. Of course we were still skeptical, but life went on. The image online looked very black in comparison to the real color, which was far more charcoal or grey. After some time, it grew on me and I was actually able to secure a pad, bonnet and a halter from the collection. I am a happy camper knowing I have most, if not all of the collection that I desire. More on that set in another post to come.
That being said, they waited a full year or so before releasing another rose gold collection and let me tell you it was definitely time. I saw the ads start to drop for this collection and I knew immediately that I would be dropping a decent amount of my paycheck on the launch. This pad was perfection from the rendered photos, to the item I finally got my hands on. No photos do it justice.
This is Monaco Blue by Equestrian Stockholm.

The collection as a whole comes with 15 items ranging from a full tack set, to rider necessities, to dog wear and pet beds. The pad pictured above is the full size jump pad, which is the exact one I grabbed. It comes in pony or full, and a dressage cut in cob. Both priced at €85 or $95 a piece. To match the pad, I grabbed a full size bonnet, which was €49 or $55. If I used or desired them they made brushing boots, polos and bell boots. Priced respectively at €59, €59 and €49, or $66, $66 & $55 in USD. The brushing boots and bell boots come in 3 sizes, small, medium or large; and the polos come in one size (4m) and could be cut down if you really wanted to.

I planned on setting aside a decent amount of money to also grab a few pieces of the rider collection that I had my eye on to match the tack. When I first saw the collection I hoped for a good sunshirt in the rider section, and I wanted a good ball cap or fleece lined ear headband as we head into winter. As it went, I got a sunshirt, and a hair tie out of it. I’m in no way shape or form genuinely disappointed, but those would have been great items to add to the collection over a dog bed or collars. I also say that knowing I will never have a dog to buy things for.
I received my items in a timely manner despite distribution issues globally following the pandemic, and I am so thrilled to have them in my possession finally. Check it out below, the only thing not pictured is my hair tie which was in use to take the photo.

There were a handful of items I did really want, but couldn’t justify buying just yet because I don’t have a horse to use them on, but I needed to include them here for you guys to see and enjoy with me.
They made a halter in Monaco Blue with rose gold hardware, it comes in 3 sizes, pony, cob or full, all priced at €69 or $77 in USD. Because I can’t help myself and I have the Dark Sky version, I have to have this halter at some point.

They also made an exercise blanket, which I would love sometime down the road. Unfortunately, I just don’t have a horse for it so I didn’t include it. If you are interested here is the link to them, they look amazing. They’re priced at €79 which is about $89. To go with that they designed a fleece rug, which would look really stunning in the barn at work. I would imagine it would be one of my few good go to stable rugs too, especially in a colder climate. If you want to peek at those the link to those are here, but they are €189 which is pretty steep, it’s about $215 USD.
Aside from that I got the Vision Top in a medium which was €69, or $78 USD. I absolutely love the top, it hugs my shape very well and the texture is lovely. I especially love the rose gold accents and logos printed on the spine and sleeves. It’s gone to Yosemite with me and has been used as a work shirt. I think it’ll be great in the summer and fall given the breathable fabric it’s made of. I like to pair it with my hair tie that I use every day, but it’s becoming frayed and doesn’t seem like it’ll last very much longer to be honest. Guess that’s a reason to gather items for another purchase.
I hope you guys love these pieces as much as I do. The Monaco Blue is one of my favorite collections honestly. Look out for more in the collection, Grey2Bay will own it all some day.
[…] However, back then near its first release a friend of mine and I had lengthy conversations on the color of this pad because it’s marketed as nearly black, however, it is actually dark grey or charcoal. The halter is one of the only pieces that has more black points than grey. There are 18 items in this lovey collection and I happen to own 3 of them. This was the first of their rose gold collections and it paved the way to me finding Monaco Blue. […]
