The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives || 2025

Today’s post is a little late since season two of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is premiering, but I wanted to give you the scoop anyways.

This is a brand new reality TV show based in Utah. I was first put onto the show by Aspyn Ovard, a YouTuber I love and adore. She was so excited to see familiar places in Utah where she’s from, and to see Utah culture on TV. She never grew up Mormon, but she’s definitely familiar so this was a fun show near her home circle.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives spans 8 episodes for season one, and TEN in season two. I am so stoked.

The show follows eight moms from “Momtok”, a colloquial term for mom vloggers on TikTok. As a group they share their lives, Mormon/Utah specific things, they discuss drama in their circles and in relation to being Latter Day Saints (LDS). In season one a clear “villain” was established outside of the initial swinging scandal that gave the group popularity online. We later found out that was a long term scandal a lot of the 8 moms weren’t directly involved in after all, it was all show drama needing public clarification.

Mikayla & Jace’s part in the show definitely focuses on her skin journey as she battles her autoimmune disease. She uses YouTube and other socials to bring awareness to the struggle. Sadly it doesn’t end there as she flares through the season due to stress and other factors. Everyone says she looks like Blair Waldorf and I totally see it!!

Jess & Jordan focus on Jess’ hair company. She does extensions, cuts, styles, coloring and more. She is blatantly honest, upfront and funny. I honestly love her and I want to be more like her when I “grow up”. I wish water rolled off my back like it does hers. She is very clear about having stepped back from the church, and it does stir the pot for the more committed members.

Layla is a single mom who’s never experienced an “O”, and was okay admitting that. Of course I’m not offended for her, just the “men” in her life. She’s the youngest mom of the group, and unfortunately she experiences racial issues at church. Her age makes her relatable, but she’s not one of my favorite creators outside of the show.

Taylor & Dakota are kind of the base of the show. They are struggling with co parenting after a bunch of scandals together. Somehow they keep trying to make it work in season one when they couldn’t be more wrong for each other in that moment. Season two is expecting to blow that a part with another scandal brewing with a cliffhanger in season one where we meet “Jenna”.

Demi & Brett are so fun. Brett was a former contestant on the Bachelorette, Claire’s season before it blew up. The familiarity there made liking this show a little easier. It also helped that he married someone a little younger than himself, and clearly built a happy balanced life with her. I have my own age gap so it was refreshing to see. Demi is gorgeous, and is very personable.

Whitney & Conner are a struggle bus and our villains of season one. Her husband was on Tinder and possibly some other dating sites. To avoid his addiction and affliction they temporarily relocated their entire lives to Hawaii. Then at the start of season one they moved back to air their very dirty laundry. As we all see them tackle these issues at home, Whitney gets pregnant and we follow that journey simultaneously.

Mayci & Jacob are another couple I very much enjoy. She owns “BabyMama” a prenatal & pregnancy support company. They seem like the most stable family unit of the bunch aside from Demi & Brett. And they’ve honestly been through some extremely hard times making them very realistic for television. I can unfortunately see myself in some of the things they’ve endured. I look forward to seeing them bloom next season.

Finally Jenn & Zac are the example we all needed for problematic relationships. She is young, very Mormon which affects the group of lesser committed LDS members. She is beautiful, but very naive when it comes to her dynamic in the public’s eyes. Zac comes across as controlling, and unforgiving when it comes to her wants and needs. I’m hoping for some character development in season two for them. Realistically though, who am I to judge a relationship I’m not in.

I have become a fan of the show and some of the moms individually. I have started watching some of their TikTok and Instagram content, but I have honestly binged the first season a couple more times. I think that speaks to its content. It reminds me of Model Squad, which followed the lives of models finding gigs in the fashion hubs around the globe during fashion weeks.
